About Brooklyn Ascend Middle School:
Brooklyn Ascend Middle School opened in 2011 and currently serves 420 students in grades 5 through 8.
Brooklyn Ascend Middle School is committed to preparing students with the academic skills, character development, and love of learning that they will need to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. As with all Ascend middle schools, students experience a rigorous, engaging liberal arts Common Core curriculum designed to develop their full academic, social, artistic, and ethical potentials. The Brooklyn Ascend Middle School community is distinguished by a joyful culture of success based on dignity, respect, and caring relationships among students, teachers, and families.
Highlights of the Brooklyn Ascend Middle School program include:
Monthly events to celebrate scholars’ commitment to the school’s core values in alignment with its Response to Behavior system. Programs include a school-wide chant challenge, talent show competition, and more.
Free after-school program funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development. The program aims to help youth build skills to support their academic achievement, raise their confidence, and cultivate their leadership ability. Activities may include tutoring, chess, debate, dance, karate, jazz band, African drumming, and more.
Field trips to college campuses and New York City community and cultural organizations.
